My name is Annalene. I am a photographer and owner of the Moments by Annalene studio. My keen interest in photography started when, as a child, I was given an old SLR camera and learned the hard (and right) way to take photographs. At school I survived by studying art and taking photos. Black and white photography became my passion, and the darkroom work gave me a good understanding of the photographic process. Over the years photography stayed my hobby, and design became my job. I entered the magic world of Photoshop in the late 90s, and when the digital era arrived, I was lured into full-time photography.

Photographing people is my passion. Therefore, Moments by Annalene is mainly about capturing unforgettable moments in the lives of people of all ages and at all stages. Although my physical studio is in Pretoria, I am keen on on-location shoots as well.

Life starts at the beginning – where else? – with the mother-to-be who yearns to treasure a keepsake of the beautiful belly she once had. In the first few days after birth, a baby folds its legs under its body in a natural way to fit snugly in Daddy’s big hands. And at three months a gorgeous (mostly still gums-only) smile emerges …
Then there are milestones such as sitting, crawling, standing up … And in a wink the first year has passed!

Family photos are back in fashion, but much more relaxed and exciting than the stilted and posed family portraits of yonder years. On location we can have fun and play and get the image that encapsulates the joy of being and having a family.

Teens have several rites of passage, and in recent years it has become fashionable to photograph them professionally. One of our new products is the Teen Portrait. It focuses mainly on the matric dance. Young ladies take great pride in their appearance at this important event, but the photographs taken at the event is scarce and basic. When the trail make-up and hair is done, we take the time to properly photograph the lady at her best. Young men are also keen to have a portrait taken of themselves, either dressed formally or in their sports gear.

Wedding photography entails a large component of our business. My style is romantic, classic and natural. With new products such as the designer albums, the couple can now have a storybook of their wedding. The photographs are displayed for maximum impact in beautifully designed personal albums. The albums are of high quality and very durable.

For all our clients we offer various products in, on and under which to display your precious moments and memories – from designer albums to images on canvas or framed prints. We always supply images digitally so that you can mail, store, look at and reprint them.
