I met Bronwyn and Richard at their wedding at Oakfield farm a few years ago when I was second photographer. They recently had a new baby and came for some newborn photos. He was not amused and cried the entire time. We had to abandon the studio lights for some old fashioned available light. Luckily I got time for a few shots before he realised what was happening.
…these days the sight of the smiling baby face is great. Getting the bundle of joy to smile on cue and look at the camera (I mean those flashing lights are just so interesting) is part of my daily grind. When I find the ones that are perfect between all the blurrs, it is the first prize. For me it is the best part of my job.

In recent years people tended to do everything for themselves. The DIY craze extended to the photography realm as well. We took our own pics of kids and family. Even in a photographic family, I have to say these snaps are bad. They serve well as a memento, but nothing you would even consider to hang on a wall.
I received apackage from a family member with 90 year old pictures of my grandfather as a child. They were very poor, but still managed to take the entire family for studio photograps (I can imagine they still used one pf those exploding flashes!).
The arrival of a new family member is the perfect time to indulge in some great family photographs. They may be “old fashioned” to some, but one day that baby’s granddaugter is going to treasure this picture as a link to her past…

Meet Mikey, a little boy with a whole lotta attitude. He already knows what he wants, and shows his likes and dislikes without reservation. I just love that curl on his head!

Meet two of my favorite models, Minet and Zandri. They have a joie de vivre that transcends to the lens. This session was playful and fun in the fallen autumn leaves.
